Rumors over the back fence are a more reliable source of news. I've begun thinking of the broadcast "news" as the "opinions." The TV listings ought to classify news under entertainment.
And the really sad thing is that so many of your friends and neighbors thing that the media is proclaiming gospel truth.

I don`t believe there is much objective reporting being done these days because newspapers and broadcast media often take sides which goes against the grain, considering journalists are supposed to report the news, not create it or put a spin on it. Look how jingoistic American media often is. "In other developments today, a Croatian airliner went down in Serbia killing 225 passengers, including 3 Americans"

I believe certain media companies report what they want to report based on what they want the people to think.
They Obviously make alot of things worse than they really are by giving so much attention to things that do not really matter in the long run!

The media routinely makes up the news to sensationalize . I read about half the newspapers I used to read , because they are basically trash . I have found other ways to find out what is happening -vs.- what is being invented by the "drive-by media".

Absolutely not... The media reports events that are then twisted to appeal the public. As a result, the truth is always twisted and the truth is really never reported

I prefer listening to the news on the radio. The report is concise without all the editorializing that you get on the tv networks. And, yes, I would like to hear something positive on the news and not just the schtick like a rescued kitten.

The media has to sell their stuff, which means they'll report on what they think will sell, and underreport what they think won't sell. There have been quite a few stories over the years that have been very important, but were underreported.
