I'm debating whether or not to take my 2.5 year old to see "Cars" as his first movie. He's seen all the ads and toys for it and asks to watch "Cars," however I don't know if he'll last through the whole movie. Any suggestions? Does it move enough to keep a child's attention?

I forgot to mention, my two year old does sit through movies like 1 to 1.5 hours at home (right now his current favorite it the Tigger Movie & the Heffalump Movie).

cars is an awesome movie for any age group i think anyways. if your son's really into cars like my son is you betcha his eyes will be clued 24/7. my daughter took her brother to see cars & my daughter even enjoyed the movie & shes 22, the flies are made out of slug bugs, & the cows are made out of tractors, the houses are made out of cones, its a very cute movie to take your son to see.

It depends on how patient the 2 year old is. If he can sit and watch a 30 min. cartoon at home, he'd most likely last through the movie. It's entertaining and funny. I think it would be a good movie to see. You better see it while you can. There aren't that many movies in movie theaters rated G. Besides, if the child starts talking too much or something, you could always take him out of that section of the movie theater, calm him down, and come back in. If you're interested in reading an article about Cars and watching some trailers, here's the web address:

For a few minutes here and there yes. But to actually sit down and watch the whole movie from start to finish no. If you do take him please do it during the day before the older crowd is likely to come see it. Also be one of those parents who aren't afraid to leave the theater every now and then if the child starts to act up.

Nothing can keep a 2 1/2 YO child's attention for more than 5 minutes.

It depends, is he all over the place at home? If so, I'd wait to take him to a movie. Don't end up in a situation where he doesn't like sitting in a dark theater, and scared of loud noises. If you are unsure then wait until the movie comes out on video and he will be a little older, and it will be cheaper to rent.

go ahead a try it, if it doesn't work out try in another year. If your 2 1/2 does good watching a movie at home, then he should be okay at the theatre. Watch a movie at home and see how he does

really depends on the child. I would have to say that a child that young might start to fidget. have you ever taken them to a movie before. Do they sit still with other pixar DVDs. Finding Nemo,a Bug's life etc. If no the answer would have to be no.

OK, i'll admit when my hubby and I went to go see it, we were the only ones there they didn't have any kids, but not only did i personally love the movie, but most of the kids in the audience seemed to enjoy it too. only one or two got distracted from it, so i would recommend it if your son wants to see it.

I took my Daughter to see it (she's 22 months and we went to the drive in just in case) and she loved it! Sat through the whole thing.
Good luck and I hope the little one enjoys it!
