thats a very interesting question, we were discussing that in my law class. it is probable that Japan would have to resort to immigration to account for the decline in fertility rates, and the tech industry there is booming, besides its a beautiful country, so i'm sure a lot of people would love to work there.

1. Be a multicultural society ?

Probably No. in this regarding, the policy of Japan gov. is
somewhat French .... integration policy.

2. Japan will start accepting more immigrants?

Probably, No. in this regarding the policy of Japan gov. is
somewhat German..... may be going to accept more guest workers from other countries.

One of the reason is that the Ideas or contents of Japanese civil law are mostly imported from France and German..more than 100 years ago since the westernisation of Japan society are promoted by Japanese government in Meiji era.
Of course there were some revisions at later era.

On the other hand Japanese people likes import cultures from overseas. For example, Japanese eat Italian spaghetti, Indian curry, Indonesian Curry, Chinese dumpling, Korean BBQ, American Apple pie, German hamburg steak, custard pudding of England, Bulgarian yogurt, French cakes, Brown Source, Ketchup, Mayo, and etc.....at home.

If the birth rate keeps dropping and they don't have enough kids to take up enough jobs to hold the country up... yea, I think they will. It doesn't matter if Japan is has a strong tie somewhere to their traditions and history (it's another question if Japanese will start losing their cultural identitiy more and more). As for the successful economy and the aging population/ decreasing birth rate combination... more foreign workers might be pretty necessary in the future. Only time will tell, but I definitely see it as a possibility.

I don't think so.
Japan and all Japanese has strong identity always.
Ppl know what is Japan and what is Japanese style, taste, and customs.
You ask them "Who are you?"
If you were in US, ppl may say "I am US citizen, but also Italian."
in China they may say "I am Myao race. Live in China".
In SouthEast asia they may say "I am Thai. but my ancester came from China."
In Europe "I am Scotish, came from UK." "I am half German. I live in London now."

If you are in Japan, and if the person is Jpanese, they will precisely answer "I am 100% Japanese. no doubt.".
They don't say they are Japanese Race. They think they are Japanese People. cos the ancient blood of immigrants, from China, Korean and southen island, since more than 1500 years before, have constituted today's Japanese.
It is impossible to find whose ancester is who. can't find the race anymore,

They won't accept more immigrants like other continent, I think.

It will eventually, but my guess is it will be one of the last to be 'multi-cultural'. Japan, Korea, and France are very ethnocentric in my view.

I think Japanese people like to learn and
gather other culture, and take in own culture.

Of course, Japanese people try to arrange them
and product New-Japanese culture, like curry and rice.
