Sometimes I get tired in the middle of the day (around the early afternoon) and I decide to take a quick nap. I sleep for maybe 45 minutes and when I wake up I have a headache. It usually subsides after about 10 minutes after I'm up. Why does this happen? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? (Besides not taking a nap in the first place)

it's probably mild dehydration or an underactive thyroid.
I get the same thing sometimes and I found it was from too much dairy product. I like yogurt but it requires extra water to metabolise the calories.

it's usual that u will get tired after a work n another thing is that u should take more rest; i mean a complete rest where ur mind can b fresh as before. physically after taking a nap our body gets the rest but u must b mentally also fresh to do any work . next is that about ur headache, it's not a big problem it just happens every time u take a short nap. no need to worry 'bout it.lastly 'bout ur headache it's not a great deal just don't sit up immediately or don't stand uop quickly immediately after wakin' uphope ur problem will be sort out

If your need to nap in the middle of the day is due to a dip in your blood sugar level (mine does at 1:30 to 2:00 pm), then your headache may be due to that too. If you don't put the covers up over your head (carbon dioxide can give you a "turtle headache", then low blood sugar is your likely cause. Eat something with protein in it - like a handful of almonds or peanuts before you go down for your nap.

See if that doesn't take care of it.

If you have bad sinuses, that might be causing it. More sinus pressure when you lay down. Less when you sit up again. If it's your sinuses, you can always prop yourself up in bed so that you're not lying down completely flat. That should help keep the pressure from building up.

Of course, you should probably check with a doctor just to make sure nothing else is wrong.

Probably from the pillow you sleep with. It might make your neck stiff and cause a headache. That used to happen to me so I bought a new pillow and problem solved.

Try putting your hand underneath your chin before dozing off.

That way your head will not slam into your desk when you fall asleep.
