The population growth in Florida shows that thousands of new people want to live there. The warm winters especially appeal to retirees who want outdoor living and no more snow shoveling.
If they can afford it, they escape the steamy summers to go north for 3 or 4 months. If they live by the ocean in Florida, the coastal breeze cools them down and they don't need to stay inside with the air conditioning.
