You could use an old bath tub or anything else that holds water. Or you could dig a pond to the size you want, line it with thick black plastic. Add stones to hold the plastic down around the edge of the pond and add water and after the water has settled, add the fish. Don't forget to put some objects in the pond so that the fish have somewhere to hide. They don't like wide open spaces.

it depends on what you want. You can buy kits for small ponds (rigid plastic) at Home Depot. For larger ponds, you can make about any size you want using rubber liner.
