They are not in high demand in the USA... many positions have been out-sourced. Does not mean you can't find any somewhere, just they are just really not in HIGH demand like they once were.

As with my past experience, hardware tech support jobs are currently pretty bummed out, however, large companies are still searching for software programmers and troubleshooters. These people usually work hand in hand with hardware technicians in places such as Best Buy, Geek Squad, Microsoft, AOL, etc. Its best however to have experience in both hardware n software, I work for Geek Squad based in Best Buy, and they usually only hire people with both sides of experience.

I give advice on here all the time about tech support, so yeah....usually call centers I talked with a heavy-duty dude from microsoft the other day...he was working from home

Whenever I call for help, it's someone from another Country...usually India......so if your in India....I guess it's in demand..they don't pay much that's why....so they let cheap help do the job...don't really know where you apply...
