I have very fair skin so I burn very easily. I wore sunblock yesturday while I was swimming for about 3 or 4 hours at 1:00 that afternoon and I had swam the night before from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Well I woke up this morning and my skin on my shoulders is burnt and blistered as well as my back and I'm very burnt on my face. I've had a terrible headache and I'm more tired than I think I've ever been. I feel really weak and my head has been pounding. Any suggestions?

Been there, done that! I am also very fair, and the worst burn I remember getting was so bad on my face that it was literally orange and yellow from the blisters - I couldn't wear makeup for days and boy did it hurt! So I feel your pain :) I also was very fatigued, had a headache, and just generally felt sick. I think some people call this "sun poisoning." I would recommend taking an Ibuprofen (if that's something that you know your body tolerates), drinking lots of cool water (stay hydrated on the inside!), and using SolarCaine or a medicated aloe vera type salve (NEVER use anything that will keep the heat in like Neosporin - that will make it worse). If you can get cool and comfortable after that, sometimes "sleeping it off" is one of the best ways to endure the pain (I know it feels like the sun literally just drained your energy). If you aren't feeling better soon or your burns are severe enough, you might consider seeing your doctor, as he could probably give you something even more effective. Please be careful! Unfortunately burning our fair skin makes us prime candidates for skin cancer in the future! Take care :)

Oh yeah, and next time try to use a sunblock that's waterproof and reapply it every 30 to 60 minutes, making sure you have a friend get all over your back and shoulders REALLY good!

If you're lucky, the worst is over ... except waiting for the soreness and the peeling to go away ... which may take a week or two. If you're not lucky, you may have "sun poisoning". I had that years ago and was sick-as-a-dog. Headache, vomiting, bedridden, and big ulcerated blisters. Couldn't even wear clothes for days. Hopefully, yours won't be that bad.

Sounds like you're dehydrated and that you might have sun poisoning. Go to the doctor and make sure you're using a stronger, waterproof sunblock in the future. The sun is strongest in the afternoon, so try to avoid being out in it during those times. I'm also very fair and I've been through the same thing. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I'll put aloe vera for the burns - apply it as much as you can because it'll make the burn cool off - then you could lay down comfortably. Eat/drink something sweet - get sweetened ice tea or ice chocolate (you might want to get something cold for sure) and get some rest.

Its called Sun Poisoning..
Best thing to do ( I learned this from my own experience and wasted time and money at teh E.R. in another state ) is to rest in a cool room and drink lots of fluids..Aloe Vera will help your shoulders..time is all that will eventually heal
Just drink alot of cold fluids and sleep..

Could be dehydration as well as a sunburn. Be sure to drink plenty of water, as well as using aloe vera or something similar on the sunburn.
