You will need to take about 5 minutes or so to customize your avatar. To do this, you will need to visit http://avatars.yahoo.com/ and sign in with your Yahoo ID. Once you are finished customizing your virtual duplicate, save your avatar. Now come back to Yahoo Answers and click on your own name / edit profile. And select "Use my Yahoo Avatar" next to your current gray smiley face.

Make a Yahoo 360 page and upload any picture you want from your computer. http://360.yahoo.com

If you don't have a picture of yourself that you want to use you can search the Internet, maybe by going to Yahoo or Google's image search and type in the words that match the type of picture you are looking for. Then right click on the picture and choose "save image as" and you can download it to your computer and then upload it to your 360 page.

Then click on your picture here at Yahoo Answers and choose the edit your info link to use a Yahoo 360 picture.

When you first joined up you have had to submit a profile. To get back into your own profile click on your own name in Yahoo Answers.

Choose Edit Profile. From here on you have a choice of using a picture from your Yahoo! 360 account or Yahoo! Avatar. Obviously you do not have an account set up with either. Go click on anyone you like and complete the sign up process.

360 let you upload any kind of pic (as long as it is in jpeg format) that you can use as your Yahoo! Answers pic. Avatar let you customise a cartoony representation of yourself that fits your personal profile.

For example you can see that I am using a Shiny Silvery Knight to represent myself as someone who is happy to share my IT knowledge. I used Avatar initially, but I thought it was a bit lame!

After creating your Avatar cartoon or uploading a JPEG file to 360 sign out of either and log back in to Yahoo! Answers profile. Select use pic from either and you are done!
