I know someone that is gay, and they are probably the coolest person I know. Yes, AIDS does originate from gay sexual intercourse, but is that not a risk that they take when they decide to do so?

Hello i lovesunshine3,

The reason the GLBT community is discriminated against (as a whole) is pretty much the same as why women, Native Americans and African-Americans were discriminated against early in this country's history: through Judeo-Christian indoctrination by fear and control.

This type of hatred is a 'faith based' hatred and nothing more. To hate a Gay or Lesbian person is completely irrational (as are most fears). What people don't understand, they fear; what people fear, they despise. It was, and remains, an irrational fear of the minorities (and others) mentioned above that cause discrimination against the Gay community.

Regarding your statement that AIDS originated from Gay sexual intercourse:

Of all HIV/AIDS cases reported to date, less than 4% of all reported HIV/AIDS cases were transmitted/contracted through male homosexual sexual contact (MM = Male to Male). That's right -- LESS THAN FOUR PERCENT of ALL HIV/AIDS cases are, or have been, contracted through Gay (MM) sex.

As for the risk involved when having sex, ANYONE choosing to live a sexually active lifestyle is at risk for contracted any number of STD's. That's why it's important to play safely...ALWAYS.

Because it's fun to pick on a minority, apparently, and gays are the only minority group left that it's really ok to discriminate against, in my opinion. I applied for a job at a tanning salon, and the woman in charge of hiring flat out told me they were looking for a woman, not a gay guy, and I didn't even say anything about my sexual orientation -- and there's nothing I can do about it because gays are not protected like other minority groups where I live. I don't dislike straight people -- I just wish people would accept me for who I am.

AIDS: A Doctor’s Note on the Man-Made Theory
By ALAN CANTWELL, J.R, M.D.

When AIDS officially began in 1981 the public was told that anal sex, drugs, and homosexuality were at the root of the new "gay plague." The first cases were all young, predominantly white, and previously healthy homosexual men from Manhattan who were dying mysteriously from "gay pneumonia" and "gay cancer" in the form of Kaposi’s sarcoma. The association with homosexuality was so remarkable that the disease was initially termed GRID ("gay-related immune deficiency"). To this day, gays are still blamed for the spread of AIDS into the U.S. population.

When the disease first broke out, a new virus was suspected, but officials reassured "the general public" there was nothing to worry about. Of course, the health experts were wrong. Now most of the world’s AIDS cases are heterosexuals. The AIDS virus (HIV) can also be transmitted vaginally; and one does not need to be a drug abuser, a promiscuous person or a homosexual to contract AIDS.

The Green Monkey Theory

Where did HIV originate? Prominent cancer virologists and government epidemiologists have theorised that HIV originated in African green monkeys. Purportedly the monkey virus "jumped species" and entered the black population. From there it migrated to Haiti and Manhattan. After the virus entered the black heterosexual population in the late 1970s, it rapidly spread to millions of blacks because of transfusions with HIV-infected blood, dirty needles, promiscuity and genital ulcers — or so the experts said.

Not all scientists believe the official monkey story, although it is rare to find people who express this view publicly. One persistent underground rumor is that AIDS is biological warfare. Proponents of the AIDS conspiracy theory believe that AIDS has nothing to do with green monkeys, homosexuality, drug addiction, genital ulcerations, anal sex or promiscuity, but that it has to do with scientists experimenting on blacks and gays: in short, AIDS is genocide. Most African-Americans have heard the story that HIV is a manufactured virus genetically-engineered to kill off the black race. Thirty percent of New York City blacks polled by The New York Times (October 29, 1990) actually believe AIDS is an ethno-specific bioweapon designed in a laboratory to infect black people.

Despite the general acceptance that HIV came from monkeys and the rain forest, there is no scientific evidence to prove that HIV and AIDS originated in Africa. What is true is that the first AIDS cases were uncovered in the U.S. in 1979, around the same time that AIDS cases were discovered in Africa. In addition, no stored African tissue from the 1970s tests positive for HIV. And scientists have a hard time explaining how a black heterosexual epidemic centered in Africa could have quickly transformed itself into a white homosexual epidemic in Manhattan.
Yes my friend many theroies no actual posibilities. everyone takes a chance to acquire aids, it's the wise person who uses the most precaution that is the one whom will enjoy the sexual experience to the ultimate.

Hatred is related to opinion and popular belief. Did you know, that AIDS originated in gorillas? Someone was bit and passed it on. This is the origin of AIDS, not homosexuals, they were simply the first to be harmed by it on a large and public basis. Good luck with thought, it only leads to opinion. God Bless.

Homosexuality is only one piece of the greater puzzle that is humanity. Let's just hope all the pieces eventually come together.

There may be some kind of innate aversion to homosexuals in some people but most of us lose those sort of feelings as we grow up and replace them with rational non-discrimatory views. It's just part of being a mature adult. So the answer to your question, I suppose, is that gay folks are still sometimes discriminated against because there are immature people about who ought to grow up.

Everyone is discriminated by everyone. No one goes free in this life. I don't agree with that AIDS thing being originated from gay persons...anyone careless can get it.
Anyways...don't worry too much for other people coz life's too short to be live out in worries. It's good that you care but think of yourself too.
God bless.

Many don't like gays because they fall out of the plan of nature. If everybody was gay, life could not go on.
Only in humans does a male sexually satisfy another male, or a female another female.
If a male dog mounts another male - - - look out, the fur will fly.

First of all, I'm not sure where you got your info, but gay sex did not "start" the AIDS epidemic. It started in Africa, not by gay men. But I believe gay people are discrimenated against because this country isn't what it claims to be. This isn't the land of the free. It's controlled by right wing conservatives who live like we are still in the 1800's. They judge others, while they screw around on their wives & steal our money. Gotta love the government.

Gays aren't the only victims of discrimination. Hispanics are blacks are, asians are caucasions are..as well as other races, various religions are victims of discrimination...the list goes on.

Discrimination stems from ignorance. I do not support homosexuality, but if that is what a person chooses, that is strictly their business and I am not going to condemn them for it nor will I condemn someone for their race or their beliefs.

Fear of the unknown and misguided feelings of superiority by others. All the same reasons blacks, jews, latins and others are discriminated against. The Bible declaring one group chosen and others being pissed at that brought about much of it in the western world.
