People feel they must regulate other people's business because they themselves feel out of control in their own lives. The persons who are happy and secure in their own existence will not take the time or the effort (or even care, for that matter) to try to regulate what other consenting adults do in their private domains. A study in psychology found that conservative governments feel the need to regulate...the persons in these administrations are often insecure in their own lives and feel they must control others. The liberal governments don't feel the need to regulate what consenting adults do in privacy...the persons in these administrations are often SECURE in their own lives and don't feel the need to control others. Also, liberal voters are found to be more psychologically sound than conservative voters...who often need to control others.

Good question! What goes on in one's bedroom is none of anyone else's business...now if they start making it public, well then they are giving people the right to say something about it.
It seems like our privacy is being invaded a bit much anymore, doesn't it?

because the nature of our society is to focus on punishing people who do not conform to the normal regiment, apparently for our own good.
It may actually be better to teach people how to be responsible adult humans and let them alone if they are.
for example, legalising drugs would remove the huge profits involved and reduce the time and expense needed for law enforcement. all that money would then be available to provide a society worth living in, not escaping from.

I think you are referring to governments and lawmakers? I think my friend it goes back to religion. I mean come on, we put In God We Trust on our money. And depending upon what you believe in, homosexuality is a sin. I myself do not think it is anyone's business what happens in the privacy of someones home. In any event, if you are talking about people in general, just remember there is strength in numbers. And if you are homo/bisexual, join a support group in which to draw that strength. You will find with their support, you can overcome someone elses bigotry.

For centuries, cultures have tried to "regulate" what happens in the bedroom. In fact, I think sodomy is still technically illegal in some states.
Is it wrong, yes. Is it typical of stupid humans? Oh yes -- very.

I dunno, but it sure gets annoying. There are plenty of wealthy, developed nations of the Pacific Rim and Europe where people are *mature and smart* enough to realize that a) people want to have sex when they grow up, b) being grown up means being responsible for their body, and c) not everyone is going to do it the exact same way.
I mean, I really don't get this one....we know, rationally for a fact, that in total spite of being 99% identical in our DNA that no two of us are exactly alike. My tastes in food differ from yours: my sleep is different from Nelly Furtado's, which is likely different in turn from Vladimir Putin's. Nobody in their right mind insists that everyone wear the same clothes, live in exactly the same kind of house, or have the exact same name....
And yet. When it comes to sex, when it comes to the potential for reproductive success, we are as anal-retentive as all hell, we get huge sticks up our potato chutes and don't-wanna-deal with folks who are different. And it is like this all over: Straights go after gays, some gays don't get ambisexuals, who in turn don't get the abstinent/asexual, who in turn refuse to get the BDSM crowd, who for the longest time didn't understand....well, it goes on and on...
Maybe sex is so intimate and so high-stakes that on certain issues our DNA just does NOT let us be rational about it. Because I know from my own experience that being understanding and empathetic of other people's sexuality is WORK, hard work. Rewarding work? On occasion, yes. ;) But work nonetheless.

This is one of the best questions EVER asked here.
Why does anyone care what other people are doing in their bedrooms? Have fun! Live it up! You're lucky you have someone that's willing to take care of your needs!

It is idiots that think man and woman having sex to reproduce and never as a fun exciting thing to do is the only proper thing. Any thing outside the box is wrong they want to know how many ppl are "sinning".
