Avent brand isn't necessary. Other more moderately priced brands make nipples that are very similar to the breast and are just as easy for baby to transition. . Playtex VentAire Natural Shape bottles is one I'd recommend.

Those are the only bottles I ever used. I breastfed my daughter, and used an Avent breast pump; it was nice because the bottles attach to the pump so I could pump directly into the bottles. She wouldn't even take any other kind of bottle. I gave her a bottle for the first time at a month, and she never went through any nipple confusion like some babies do when exposed to a bottle too early. I also liked the fact that as she got older, I could just buy new nipples with increased flow, instead of having to purchase a new bottle. I also got the Avent Via disposable bottles for milk storage in the freezer, and now that my daughter is no longer nursing, we use them with the screw on lids as snack containers. Even now that my daughter doesn't use a bottle much any more (she uses a sippy cup) We got the Avent sippy cups; they can also be attached to the breast pump, and all the pieces are interchangeable (I can put the cup handles on a bottle if I want, or use a nipple with the cup instead of the sip top.) All in all, I think they are wonderful and very worth the money.

I loved those and so did my baby. They are the most expensive but like one person said, the nipple flow was too fast. Well, they make 3-4 different nipples that have a different flow. Just make sure that when you pick out the nipples, look at the top of the package for the age. EX: newborns will have 1-2 holes in the nipple for slow flow and 9-10 months will have 4 holes for fast flow.

I love them. I BF, so the Avent bottles transition nicely. The different flow nipples are nice to use as your baby becomes a more efficient eater.

Loved them. I breast & bottle fed my twins & they had no problems switching between me and the Advent bottles - I think because the nipple on the bottles is so long, it's easy for them. I liked that I didn't have to constantly throw away bags - we're really into environmentally friendly products, and buying once and washing is better than constantly throwing stuff away. We also use the Advent sippy cups - and again it was an easy transition between the bottle and the sippy cup, they have nice handles that my girls can grip easily. I highly recommend all their products! They are more expensive, but well worth it.

I used Avent in the beginning, and believe it or not - they leak! Yes, they do leak, and you have stop the bottle, unscrew the cap, rescrew it on and hope for the best.... Not a very conducive athmosphere to bottle feeding....

I didn't like them for my baby as a new born. The flow was too fast. She would be soaked from all the formula that came out of her mouth.

Now that she is 5 months they are working just fine.

They are easy to use and clean.

Yes! That is all I used. My baby won't use anything else. I've tried. They work awesome especially since they are designed to help prevent colic. They don't get any air then either. I personally love them even though they are expensive.

My babies were breastfed and I tried them with both of my kids. The nipples seemed too long for them. Their manual breast pump is great, though! I preferred it over my electric Medela one.
