I think it should be allowed because they wont stop having those parades until they're equal.

Your equation of gay couples being like loving a pet is really insulting. Gay people are PEOPLE. They fall in love just like the rest of us. The only argument I can find to support being against gay marriage is the Christian "right" saying that it is against the beliefs of them and their peers. So, fine. Don't allow gay couples to get married in your Church. That has nothing to do with legal marriage. I can get married at city hall by a Judge. No religion involved at all. Legal marriage is just a case of standing up in front of the proper authority and promising to live together and make a go of it. That's all it is. And for that you get the right to be each others next of kin. When I get old and sick I can rest knowing that no one can come in and take our home or our money from my husband. And he will be the one making decisions and talking to my Dr.'s. That's what I want. He's the one I love the most and nothing can come between us and the life we have made together. That's all gay people want. The argument that states "how far are we going to let society go?" is not unlike the argument against freeing the slaves.

I just wonder why you feel it is a threat, It is interesting to me that states that allow it has a smaller divorce rate then those that don't. I think there is a lot of unneeded hysteria over nothing. Would it be ok if they called it something else like civil union. That way gays could have the benefits of marriage like, probate and end of life issues, medical insurance. ect. But it wouldn't be called marriage.

I don't really care. I can see that it would be nice for the gay couple to be recognized by society so as it effects their rights on a very personal level legally in the eye of the court and for medical benefits for spousal support etc.
I wish a compromise could be made to respect their rights without calling it marriage.

Your argument is ridiculous. People won't marry animals, I don't
know who is putting this stuff into your head, but, don't lower
yourself into believing something so extreme.
Why not let them marry? I thought Bush was a uniter - he's
segregated the Mexicans, the poor, & the gay community by
making their union "different".
If they marry - who, pray tell, will it hurt?!
Drawing lines is the 1st step to racism.

1. If two adults consider themselves to be married, then they really are. So the real question (in the U.S. today) is not whether same-sex marriages will be allowed -- they already exist -- but whether those marriages will be legally recognized by our governments.
2. Our nation was founded on two great principles, as outlined in the Declaration of Independence. First, that everyone is equal under the law; government must treat people equally. Second, that it is not the government's place to decide how people should live. If a man and a woman have a legal right to marry, then any two consenting adults have the same right to marry. It is up to them, and not anyone else, to decide what they should do. Even if they are wrong, they have the right to discover that for themselves. That's what America is all about.
3. Recognizing same-sex marriages does not harm opposite-sex marriages. Anyone who feels that his/her marriage is devalued by someone else's marriage -- whether it's two men, two women, two people in Las Vegas, or some celebrity -- has a troubled marriage to begin with.
4. For most same-sex couples, the choice is not between same-sex marriage and opposite-sex marriage. It is between same-sex marriage and nothing. To force them into "nothing" -- no legally recognized relationship -- seems to me to be needless cruelty. It seems hard enough these days for couples to succeed even when their own government is not opposing them.
5 Legal recognition of same-sex marriages would strengthen families that are headed by same-sex partners. There is certainly no legal requirement that families should be strengthened, but IMHO it would be a good thing.
6. If we allow governments to deny recognition of same-sex marriages, what other marriages might they deny? We might see our governments deciding to deny recognition to certain opposite-sex marriages just because the governments don't like the people involved. It was not too long ago, for example, that many states barred marriages of interracial couples. Would Christians, for example, be happy if a state government were to decide to stop recognizing marriages between two Christians?
7. As far as pet goats go, the goat might very well "consent" to such a marriage, but in a legal sense, no animal or minor person (child) can give consent. If you believe that a line should be drawn -- and it does make sense to think so -- consent seems to be the most reasonable.
8. Contrary to the usual protrayal in the media, the direction of society has been more positive than negative. It was not long ago that racial segregation was legal in much of the country, it was less than 100 years ago that most women were not even allowed to vote, it was only a few decades ago that Americans lived through the Great Depression and World Wars, and it was only ten or so years ago that most Americans didn't even have Internet access. Life in the U.S. is not perfect by any means, but it is getting better more than it is getting worse.
9. Lastly, if people have the right to have their marriages legally recognized, you are not required to approve. Even with opposite-sex couples, you always have the right to believe that they should not marry, and the right to tell them so. Civil rights, and the American nation, are all about allowing people to live their own lives to the best of their ability, even if their choices are ones we ourselves would not make. If you would not want someone else to decide who you should or should not marry, why would you want to make that choice for someone else? It would seem to me to be enough of a challenge to make the right choices in one's own life, without taking on the burden of making someone else's choices for them as well, against their will.
Thanks for the question, and I hope you will consider supporting equal rights for everyone even when their choices disagree with your own. Remember, a government that can deny rights to other people can deny your rights too. Don't let that happen.

Why do you people keep comparing 2 consenting adults to animals?? Everyone has the right to be happy! People are always saying that gays are promiscuous but as soon as they want to make a commitment to one person they say no!!

In the Constitution, it says that All men are created equal.. Not all STRAIGHT men.
I don't think LOVE should be banned.
This isn't just about gay marriage.. It's about everyone being equal and having equal rights.

Yes it should be allowed. It's just 2 people in love with each other, everyone should be entitled to get married. Why are you bringing animals in to this? We are talking about humans. Grow up.

if two straight people can get married then why can't two gay people get married?, "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL" Marriage is suppose to be a private matter!!! If a man and a woman get married of course they get their privacy and support but if two gay people want to get married it's suddenly every ones business this does not sound fair to me!!!

The reference to pet goats means you're just putting sexual connotations on your question ... you have to take into account visitation rights in hospitals for next of kin ... wills ... stuff like that ... and, what consenting adults do in their own bedroom is none of my business, or yours either .... and if you're so worried about them having sex, chances are they'll be having it with or without marriage ...:)
