players should not be allowed to get away with flagrant fouls simply because the player that they fouled just happens to be bigger than him...
if stackhouse did that to any other player and got suspened, no one would be complaining. The only reason the people here are complaining is because they don't like Shaq.
Yes, the suspension was proper. Only Michael Jordan could have fouled Shaq in that way and not gotten a suspension out of it. And Stackhouse AIN'T Michael Jordan (although at one time, he THOUGHT he was).
Besides, Shaq has gotten called for flagrant fouls for doing a lot less than Stack did.
Shaq's comments after the game were classic, though:
"My daughters tackle me harder when I come home," O'Neal said. "I'm one of the last players of the old school, and you know, you just have to take a hard foul like that and keep on moving. It actually felt pretty good to get hit like that. Thank you, Jerry. Appreciate it."

Yes, I think the suspension of Stackhouse was excessive because it wasn't that hard of a foul. Just look at Shaq compared to Stackhouse. Shaq overacted after he got up and tumbled to the stands to dramatize the foul. It's the Finals and they should have just let the players play. I've seen harder fouls before and the Stackhouse foul definitely did not warrant a suspension.

No, I don't think it was excessive. If Shaq did the same thing to Stackhouse, and he got suspended for one game, Mark Cuban would be calling for him to be suspended for the rest of the Finals. I don't care how frustrated you might be, you can't just flagrently foul someone and expect to get off scot-free.
Now, do I think that the league is intentionally being harsh on Stackhouse to send a message to the rest of the players? Maybe. Remember, Raja Bell did pretty much the same thing to Bryant during the Suns-Lakers series and got suspended for a game too, so if the league is trying to send messages to players, it's not working.

No, if you look at the other suspensions in this years playoffs, it was a consistent call to make. Especially since Stackhouse had the most flagrant foul of them all. He did not even attempt to go for the ball. He went specifically for the head area. There is no place for that in basketball.

Not at all, because you never have to knock a player to the ground like that to foul them, even if the player is Shaq.
Stackhouse could have just as easily wrapped him up before he left the air, or just swat the ball out of Shaq's hands.
It's obvious to me looking at the result of that game that Stack fouled Shaq partially out of frustration that the Mavs were getting dominated.

The NBA seems to be cracking down on players for hard fouls since Koby Bryant was headlocked in the Phoenix and L.A. series. I enjoyed that because I dont like Koby!

the heat (and spurs) fan part of me is thinking no.How can Stackhouse do that to Shaq in midair; I mean what player would do that to a brick wall; but the basketball side of me just think stu jackson (and david stern) really hate mark cuban so they really don't want to hand mark that trophy!
