A two week old injury does not qualify for a ER visit. Wash the area 3x daily with Hydrogen peroxide or Betadine. Place neosporin or bacitracin ointment on it afterwards. If you didn't bump it on metal, you don't need a Tetanus shot. I agree with keeping it covered and medicated at night and open during the day if it is not weepy. Do not soak it. The Peroxide or Betadine is all you need to cleanse it. It needs to be kept clean and dry. If Diabetes runs in your family, you definitely need to see a Dr. I would try cleaning it appropriately and using the ointment for 2-3 more days. If no improvement, see MD.

You should see a Doctor you could have an infection that would need antibiotics or a tetanus shot. If you can not see a Doctor try soaking the area 5-6 times a day in hot dish soap water I use Dawn. Just a few drops and a twenty minute soak can help draw the infection out. If it is draining keep it covered when in public and let it dry after cleaning. If it is on the feet or legs you should be tested for diabetes. A Doctor recommended Basotracin ointment or neosporin for ointments after a skin graft.

When was the last time you saw your family physician? I suggest you make an appointment to see him or her ASAP. For a shin that was hurt 2 weeks ago and not any better and worse. Indicates many possibilities that could be happening. It could be a massive infection, or you have diabetes that you didn't know before and so on... Do yourself a favor and get it looked at. If you can't see your family doctor because it is a weekend where you are at, then I suggest you go to your local Emergency Room and have a doctor look at it.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

If you are talking a few days, give it more time and leave it alone. if it still won't heal you may have gotten it infected and if bad enough could need antibiotics. If we are talking several weeks and it hasn't healed you may need to be checked for Diabetes as that is one of the signs, injuries that won't heal. And people... just cause you have a pimple or a bump doesn't mean it has to be popped.... jeese!!

Neosporin is about the best ointment to put on your shin. If it is runny I would put a bandage on it. May want to anyway to keep the neosporin on it. Leave the bandage off every once in a while and let it air out.

Have you tried using neosporin at night with a band-aid and leaving in uncovered during the day, I have done this before and it seemed to work.

If it's not bloody and moist, don't use a band-aid. For ointment and stuff I'm not too sure.
