My son was born at 22 weeks gestation and lived for 13 hours. The doctors told me that he only had a 10% chance of living. That was in 1998. About a year ago, I heard of a little baby that was the same age and survived. Some medical conditions, but alive. They are always making new discoveries and ways of helping babies of that age live longer and surviving. My best advice is that if the mother is in premature labor to get as much bed rest as possible because activity can create contractions which will induce labor. Bed rest will give the baby more time in the womb. I have had 3 premature births, went on bed rest with two of them and those two went successfully to within one month of full-term. If the baby is already born, my prayers are with him/her.

It can. I could not locate exact survival rates but one article suggests that a 22weeks baby has 2% chances while a 24 50%. After 25 weeks the chances improve a lot and the possibilities of health problems minimize.

All these babies need good intensive care units. If you have a baby like that I wish you the best and keep having hope.

Probably not. Viability can usually be said to occur around 26 weeks. Some babies born around 24 weeks have been known to survive, but that's very, very rare. Additionally, any child born that prematurely will likely have health problems for the rest of his or her lifef.
