I meant ideas as in what would you do with the money, rather than just give it away!

Spend a bit, save a bit! Do you feel you need a holiday; a pampering holiday, a 'walk the Great Wall of China' for charity holiday, an extreme experience(drive Ferrari, hot air ballooning, parachute jump etc). Treat your favourite people to a posh evening out. Buy an expensive piece of jewellery or art (try the affordable art fair website). Grab an Argos catalogue and have a browse for inspiration. Start that hobby you've always wanted to try and buy the gadgets that you need IE power kiting. Or if all else fails and you really can't decide what you'd like, save the lot and keep it for the time you DO see something you'd really like. Have fun whatever you decide. :-) oh and well done in gaining your bonus!

I would book a nice holiday while I consider what to do with the rest. Think of something you need that will last . You could put £1000 into premium bonds. They dont give interest but you may win more even if you don`t you have not lost anything as your moneys safe.

When I got a big pay off I treated myself to a new top spec pc, new laptop, new 42" plasma screen tv - depends what you're into but while you have the money, get all those gadgets you wish you had if you have enough to spend.

Spend half of it on treating yourself to a holiday or new clothes or car and buy Premium bonds with the rest, Chances are you will win because most people do when they first buy.

use it for something that would make a difference to your life, eg a new kitchen, a garage, an extension at the back of the house.

Or start a small part-time business, it will pay for the start up costs, eg dog breeding, it will pay for a pedigree dog and 2 or 3 bitches; and when puppies are born, you can start to recoup your outlay.

Invest it in a good second hand car!! You'll get some use out of it, and if you buy the right car, it'll retain most of it's value over limited time

Invest half of it and use the other half to go on holiday and really pamper yourself. You've obviously done well at work to get the bonus so enjoy it!

If I had that amount of money to do with as I please I would probably be booking the 23 day tour of New Zealand advertised in this weeks Radio Times.
