USA talks big.. play dirty.. but still cant score...hahahaha

the Americans played very well- the Italians tried hard but were ineffective especially in the second half when the USA was down 2 players-the Italians should have been able to score on the USA in the second half, when USA was down 2 men...the ref was an idiot--the red card on the player that elbowed McBride was OK, the red on Mastroeni was ridiculous, he did not even have a yellow yet, all he deserved was a yellow at most, & Pope just deserved a foul and not a second yellow, the Ref over-reacted after handing out the first red which was legitamite-the Ref ruined the game for everyone--especially the Usa, without losing 1 or 2 men, i believe the USA could have won the Game vs Italy.........

I thought that Italy were pretty poor, they didn't have the same pace as the Americans. I think The Italian team are babies they complain way to much and they cheat A lot. Overall the USA was the better team and should have Won. I am not American by the way.

I think the reason why the Italians didn't win was because of an unfortunate tactical mistake, namely, the substitution of Francesco Totti. He was sacrificed for the more agressive Gattuso after the Italians were down to 10 men, because it was thought that Gattuso would work much harder and run much more than Totti when they were down a man.

However, the situation soon reversed itself, and the Italians found themselves enjoying a man-advantage. Unfortunately, the Italian attack lacked creativity in the second half. All they did was trying to drop balls behind the American defense, which created offside after offside, and their passes weren't clicking as well as we expected them to. The reason was the absence of their main playmaker Totti. Its just like Argentina without Requelme or Portugal without Deco.

It was a very unfortunate game for Italy. The move to bring off the creative Totti was a immature one, therefore, the lacklustre performance of the Italian offense wasn't much of a surprise. However, the coach shouldn't be blamed for this, because few would've predicted that the Americans would have 2 men sent off right after that.

It was by far the most poorly officiated match at this World Cup. The referee handed out no less than three red cards (and countless yellow cards) and basically prevented the US team from pulling off an upset in the 2nd half. I don't care what the biased Euros say about the Americans. Anyone who saw the match in its entirety knows the US outplayed the Italians, consistently outhustling them. The only things the Italians excelled at were diving, whining (incessantly), faking injuries and paying off the officials to guarantee at least one point. That referee should be prevented from ever officiating another World Cup match. And the Azzurri better get their "act" together unless they wish to be eliminated in their first match in the Round of 16 (assuming they get in). Just pitiful.

totally intense!!! Down to the last 3 minutes. I was hoping the U.S would pull their energy together and get a goal, but no dice. That damn ref should be shot! I can't believe the rules are that intense. And nobody passed the ball to the only fresh guy in the second half!!!!! Whoa. GO KELLER!!!!!

the Italians did not commit a lot of fouls. there were 37 in total and 20 something was commited by the americans and italians only commited around 10. Althought america DID play very well, you can't really say that goal given by the italians could count as america's goal anyway...it was just one of the italian mis-positioning himself and i don't think getting a goal for your team because of the opposite team's mistake is anything to be proud of. The american goalkeeper did exceptionally well at the end. There WAS that one goal by the american but that couldn't count because he was offside i think...ah...too bad for the americans...

I am a native TEXAN been living here in Kaiserslautern for several years, I think the game was played tough on both sides, but, we sure did need a win. Maybe next time.

Second half was better,
They maintain Italy players on the edge.
Italy did not score another goal.
USA players self steam is in much better attitude now.

only managed to see the first half, and as we all know it's a game of two halves. I must say I was really disappointed to see
the American, Mcbride being viciously elbowed in the face, I think its a disgrace and the offender should be sent home.
