I think it's because if a guy plays an instrument well it shows that he doesn't mind practicing something until he gets good at it. I think that's a good quality to have and those skills are transferable to other areas of life ;)
I can't help but picture other scenarios when I see a guy strumming for a long period of time without getting tired! I also love the faces they pull when they concentrate and when they look you in the eye and give you a smile mid-song.

let's see, a well placed guitar hides a lack of physical fitness. Ever notice that some of these guys have serious beer guts? Anyways, if Dave Matthews wasn't gay, he'd get tons of chicks

Playing the guitar doesn't make ANY guy appear hotter. If he's already got something to work with, then maybe yeah, it'll make him hotter. It also depends what he's playing.

because you know they have skill and that most people that play the guitar are hot so that is what you think when you think of a guy playing a guitar

I guess because it shows he is somewhat sensitive and talented. I'd take a guitar player over a football jock any day.

have you seen how some of those guys play! with the pelvic thrusts and sweating and rolling around on the stage with it......you start thinking "i wish i were his guitar!"
i'm kidding.
it shows he's talented, and other than that i don't really know. it is pretty hot, though.

i don't think a guy playing a guiter makes him hotter than before.
i give what he's playing on the guiter more importance than how the dude looks
