Of course everyone like to dine out a few times a week, as long as you can afford it. But ask yourself : How much fun could you have in the kitchen? Many people think of cooking as hard work, however with the proper " Mise En Place" or basic preparation, done ahead of the meal time, cooking like a fine restaurant is something everyone can do with practice.
I often go to http://www.chefdepot.com to get cooking supplies, knives, cuttingboards, blenders and even recipes. Check it out and get cooking!

Fun at home. Hard work at work. My Dad was/is an exceptional chef in the UK who retired a few years back and is approaching 70. To watch him in the kitchen was stressful because of the perfection he demanded not only from himself but others around him. My best friend and best man at my wedding is also a chef striving for his first Michelin star and he works very hard long days as well and that is definitely work.

If you enjoy it then it is fun especially when you create something good and I enjoy producing quality food for guests at my house on occasions but I find it hard work especially when I am trying to create something extra special.

Hard to get into cooking that way. You didn't say if you were only cooking for yourself. One reason I like cooking is that you can be in you own world with some music and a glass of wine and usually everyone else will leave you alone and give you some quiet time. It's kind of a zen thing.... Your hands are busy but your mind can wander to something other than work. I think of it more like when you see on TV the surgeon has music on in the background. On a more practical and less metaphysical note when you cook something cook a lot of it. Say a big pot of spaghetti sauce. Freeze some in tubs (the disposable tupperware looking stuff is great). Two months later you could bread some chicken breasts, put some sauce and cheese over it and serve with pasta. Do this with enough things and you will always have something to start with. Then it will become a more creative thing rather than a chore!

I am an exceptionally good cook. Do I take pleasure in the work that is involved, no. My kitchen has all the supplies needed and I know how to accomplish the basic preparation ahead of time. Some people take joy in the art and creativity of cooking. When I prepare a meal it will be done with flair and enjoyed by all, however it's not my greatest pleasure.

Cooking is fun but it only depends on your mood, if you are really tired then it must be a pain to cook, but if your in a good mood and arent tired than maybe it's fun.

I think it's a little of both. I enjoy cooking, but it does take some work.
