Ahh, if there is a secret some tips for writting good song lyrics are

1) Write about something you know about. Not things that your neighbors sister has, becuase all the emotions you feel, you need to write them down. Part of being a good lyric writer is relating to the audience so they feel excatly what you were feeling while writing the song.

2) Using literay elements. Metaphors, smilies, allitertion, assonece, hyperbole. All the good stuff you learned in school. They can be very moving if used correctly. Some examples, Panic at the disco's I write Sins Not Trageties. In the song he says "pacing the pews..." which is alliteration. If he would of said walking the pews, it fits but its not as powerfull.

3) Write something original. Try and stay away from cliche lines like "Boy i thought you had my back" or "cut my wrists while the black blood flows from my heart" etc :)

Last tip is to write alot. More you write the more better you get. Everything you think of, write it down quick and when you first write a song it doesnt have to be in "song form" it could be like an awesome bridge or hook you thought of while boiling pasta.

Write lyrics for Jesus Christ. Rawkfist, Boom, Slam, [written by Thousand Foot Krutch, P.O.D. {Payable On Death}, and tobyMac] and other songs are all songs that have recieved much mainstream secular attention because of their Christian beliefs [me too]. If you want to be successful, do it for Christ.

P.S. That is, after you figure out about him.

you have to bring out what is inside of you, and you have to do it creatively. some artists these days just come up with something stupid and it sells like crazy, but the best songs are by people who really know what they are talking about and have been through it. i hope i helped!!

Write about what you know about. You can tell when someone has been there or when there shooting you a line when they sing.
