Look at a majority of these answers totally clueless. Someone stated how we have open borders. Really last time I checked we were building a modern day Berlin Wall along the Mexican border. What are we doing with the Canadian border? As some might know the terrorist came over from Canada and there has not been any effort to build a wall there. I think that what makes this country special, is that the minority rules. The minority doesn't want gay marriage. When infact a social union of some sort would be a benefit, not only from tax cuts. I further believe that gays should adopt. There has been scientific evidence that people are born gay. With that being said how can you turn someone gay? If gays were allowed to adopt then maybe the orphanages full of kids might find a loving and accepting home. Now come on Neo Con(victs) attack me.

I'm not so sure we are so special, anymore. Katrina woke a lot of us up. As well, there were no real reasons for going into Iraq. Our society has become so polarized that we are fighting against ourselves. Remember when Lincoln said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand?" We need to improve healthcare, education and welfare before we think of ourselves as "special." Let's bring back the troops and attempt to solve our own problems before we tell other nations how they should live. It wouldn't hurt to share ideas with Norway, New Zealand and Canada, countries that are usually voted by the UN as the best all 'round countries in which to live.

Completely open borders .... only country in the world I know of where people can walk in and out at will, totally undocumented, and demand rights ... very special ....:)
And se_roddy ... don't remember specifying which borders ... as a very late effort there is some fence building at the southern border ... the northern border is still like a sieve ...
