Courageous players. The stats of this match make for a comic list: One goal disallowed... One own goal... Three red cards... 9 against 10... I have never seen so much greenery in an important match... At times it was like a giant tennis match... goalkeeper to goalkeeper. In a way... this could also be a message to some Americans who call football a sissy's game. Ask those American players on the field in Germany 30 minutes ago if they think it is a sissy's game.

Soccer is not a sissy game, I know a lot of people who think it is but they've never played it. I play and I'm bigger than everyone else so I don't get pushed around much. But I see some smaller teammates really get beat up. every now and then theres someone who will attempt to "push" me around..... throw a weak elbow. I just blow right past them. But there is no way soccer is a sissy's game. anyone who says that has no clue what they're talking about.

Someone tell me what the reason was for the red cards (real reason not some crap reason like "the ref was stupid" and i missed the first part of the game). After playing 9 on 10 you would be tired too. It did look like it was keeper v. keeper playing tennis at sometimes. but then again I didn't see any of the red cards so I can't tell you what I think of them. I am a referee so I could tell you if it was the correct call or not.

That dis-allowed goal was a stupid mistake. I would expect someone playing at my age (U-14) to make that kind of mistake. Its was just plain stupid and I am shocked that someone talented enough to be in the world cup would make that kind of mistake.

In a difficult game to call, I think he got it more or less right.

The Americans to their credit tried hard but they were way too aggressive right from the start of the game. The Italians responded poorly too. The elbow from the Italian guy definitely deserved a red card .

However, there was so much clutching and grabbing and poor tackles by the Americans that they did indeed deserve to play with 9 men and maybe fewer. The only thing that I would have done differently was to give more yellows. The Americans didn't even deserve a tie.

It seems the US game plan was to get under the skin of the overly passionate Italians and it appeared to have worked. Shameful on both sides - don't blame the referee!

I think the referee had no choice in sending off the 3 players. USA made it difficult for Italy and it would have been a great game to watch if the players had been more disciplined. It was good to see US players being so passionate in their game, but indiscipline really ruined the game as a spectacle.

If you haven't played soccer you don't know how physical the game is. Personally I love to play the game. Watching it is another story. I still say they need better commercials like the Super Bowl. Only good one I've seen so far is the bud light commercial the aliens using bud light as bait to fish for humans.

The ref was just out of hand. He officiated well in the later part of the match, but by that time the damage had already been done. I am just glad the US still managed to pull out a draw. It will be interesting to see if the ref officiates another game in the tourney.

Yes--that sound's like a plan. I have been a member of the church for 25 years, but I still have questions that I would have a hard time asking people that I know--for fear of feeling silly. I'm game.

i can't believe the US tied! it was AMAZING! it was a really aggressive game... mcbride had a bloody face! and three redcards! although i think the referee handed out redcards WAY too liberally.

honestly the red card against pope was just ridiculous.
