Get it in a place that is covered by scrubs. I know i'm in the minority here, but seeing a tattoo on my doc would probably reassure me. to me that would be a sign of wow the doc is a normal person, . In some bizarre bass ackwards way I'd feel better. it' would be the same as the time the dentist said the stuff they were gonna use on me when they took my wisdom teeth out would have the same effect as chugging a fifth of Jack Daniels in 30 seconds. Looking back, I wish he hadn't said that in front of my mom, but it made me feel better...

Don't do it. I would NEVER go back to a doctor with tattoos.
I would never get one because what and who I am today (or the day of the tattoo) may not be what and who I am down the road of life.
I think tattoo's are many times barbaric and not really very artistic.
If you insist on getting a tattoo just be sure the needles are clean and that you don't get aids or hepatitis from the application of a tat.

keep your tattoos under your scrubs, u know... where they wont show. besides, if your an er surgeon, your customers are in trauma, they aren't shopping for a surgeon...they don't really get an opportunity to pick one. u still might wanna keep them out of sight of your instructors and the doc's/surgeons you'll be following around though.

well i guess it all depends on the person. some people like tattoos and some don't so i guess it would be up to you and what you think. i do think tattoos are getting more popular these days though. and i know lots of people with tattoos and i wouldn't mind them working on me if they were in a hospital setting. beauty is in the eye of the beholder

If you want a tattoo, get it in a place where it can be concealed (for instance inner part of the ankle). My advice do not go overboard with them since people place importance on appearance especially in professional settings.

Wait until your skills speak for themselves and then nobody will care if you have tats or not! When your scrub nurses and anesthesiologist are telling your patients "Nothing to worry about ma'am, he's/she's the BEST!" Nobody will care what you have tattooed on your arms!

Most places now, especially places where you are highly regarded, won't hire you with visible tattoos. If you really want them, just get them anywhere scrubs would cover!

Don't do it. I know that people have lost jobs because of tatoos. Corporations don't want people with tatoos representing them. Personally, I would not go to a Dr with tatoos.
You need to think about how they will look as you age. Why do you have a need to mark your skin like a savage? Many people are trying to remove them now and it is a costly and painful procedure.
Don't do it.
