Any of Meg Cabot's books - The Princess Diaries, All American Girl, The Mediator series, Boy Meets Girl, etc.
Gossip Girls series
The Devil Wears Prada
Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging or any of its sequals
Twilight - it's not really a gossipy book since it's centered around a relationship with a teenaged vampire, but I would definitly recommend it - it falls under the type "girlie", yet at the same time it doesn't. (That and I read it 3 times...)
If you like/can handle older literature (meaning you don't find it boring), try...
Gone With the Wind
Pride & Prejudice
Have fun on vacation! =)

Try Isabel Allende's "Daughter of Fortune." It's the quirky historical/surreal romance involving an orphan girl raised by Brits living in Chile in the mid 1800's. Eventually, she follows a love interest to CA during the gold rush.

find yourself a boy on vacation, it will be a lot more fun. Have you read Beverly Cleery. I know they are for younger readers, but they are terrific. I am a lot older than 17, but I enjoyed them thoroughly.
