Has anyone noticed that nothing fits anymore? Bath towells, furniture. Oil addictions? GM does make smaller cars but they sell them overseas because we don't fit in them. I heard the other day that they are restructuring planes so that they can accomodate heavy AMERICANS. Is this a red flag to anyone but me?

Obesity affects everything. The size of things, as you noted, but most importantly--health care. The more you weigh, the more likely you are to have certain health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, bad knees, etc. That puts more strain on our health care system, which is a part of why it is so expensive.

American obesity affects society because as you said, nothing fits anymore. I think in a way this is leading to the use of more and more natural resources. For example, bigger cars require more metal. Because of this, there is more mining for ore and eventually we will run out.

american obesity is out of control. We are uneducated about nutrition and portion control. I think the biggest problem is greed. Why have the medium fry when you can supersize it for 69 cents? more for me - right? as much obesity as there is anorexia is a raging ordeal as well. The people who are fat dont care as much and the people who arent think they are. WHY CAN WE FIND A FREAKING HAPPY MEDIUM? Its probably becuase we are a consumer society and everything revolves around us-- around our lives and our popularity-- the way OTHERS see us and not so much about how we see ourselves. This also relates to how we see a bunch of teenage guys driving around souped up hummers with chrome lining and tinted windows and mega-woofers and spinning tire rims. Its rediculous. They dont do it for themselves. They only think it will make them happy because they will "score" with more girls or be more popular because they are the "pimp"

so- to answer your question american obesity creates an endless cycle of consumerism. We need bigger cars because we ate too much. We need more gas becuase we have bigger cars. We need more money because we spent it all on gas and food and our hurkin truck!
