Soak in hot sodium hydroxide solution with zinc in it. This will turn the penny silver (sodium hydroxide is nastya nd hot sodium hydroxide fumes are bad as well so do in a well ventilated area ideally a fume hood) Then rinse and pat dry next place the zinc coated penny into a burner flame passing it in and out of the flame unntil it turns gold. Allow to cool and bam golden penny

I've done the sodium hydroxide/ zinc experiment and it turns out beautifully (if you know what you're doing.) It works with using zinc dust and that is HIGHLY flammable! If you try to wipe it up with a paper towel it ignites. If you wet the paper towel the zinc reacts with the water! Good luck.
