Yes tipping Housekeepers is extremely acceptable, and should be done at the end of your stay. 5-10 us dollars is fine.

You should leave a $2 or $3 tip each day and not just a tip at the end. This will help ensure you get better service and a cleaner room. The hotel maids are some of the most overworked and underpaid people in the hotel, so doing this will be greatly appreciated and really not set you back much.

You should also take some time to get to know your housekeeper, since it could reduce your chances of getting burglarized. A housekeeper planning to steal will be more likely to target a guest they have not met. Also, if a thief enters yours room while the housekeeper is cleaning, they will know it is not you an potentially report the person to security.

Yes, and tip a buck or two daily, more if it's needed. Often it's not the same people doing the room every day. Tip more if you leave a mess of some kind. (I tracked a LOT of sand in from the beach when I was in Florida, so I left $5 that day.) I also leave $5 at the end of my stay since there's more work involved.

I usually leave at least $2-$3 a day. I leave it on the center of the pillow or in an envelope with "Housekeeper" written on it.
Leave it daily because more than likely, you will not have the same housekeeper every day of your stay.

I do it at the end of a trip and usually leave $5 for each night that I stayed there.
However, I did read once in a Dear Abby column that if you leave a housekeeping tip at the beginning of your stay you'll get better service. I've never tried that myself, because I always forget.

It is proper and polite and probably very helpful to tip housekeeping. (I know they don't get paid much. They often have to work two jobs.) You can't leave it for the end of your stay because different people get assigned different floors each day. You only need to leave 2 dollars a day; more if you choose. Leave it in clear view on the nightstand, not under your pillow as someone suggested! You don't want to confuse them.

The problem with the end of the stay is that the person who cleaned your room all week might have the day off. Someone else might get the tip.

If you leave one (and I am a bad girl and often don't), it would make sense to leave a smaller amount daily under your pillow.

A dollar or 2 a day.

I always tip. I have a standard tip I give per day and then if I feel the room was kept extra tidy, I will be more than willing to give more. A lot of places will give you tip envelopes to leave in the room.

As far as when to leave it, I think it is more of a personal preference. I like to do it each day so I feel more like the actual person that cleaned my room gets it, in case they are off or something.

I guess you don't have to tip, but I think it is a nice gesture if the room is kept clean. Even if you only give a few dollars per day, it really can mean a lot to the person receiving it.

I leave it every day during my stay. This way, if it's the same person cleaning your room, you may get better treatment. Also, at the end of the stay, your regular person may be off that day and the sub will get the whole amount--not fair. Daily is the way to go.

It is up to you to tip the housekeeping. I tip housekeeping at the end of my stay.
