I always liked that name. I dont know why. Is it too old-fashioned to name a child Winston in this day and age?

Reminds me of 1984, Winston Smith. Winston is an uncommon name. Giving a child a regular name is better than an uncommon name. It's a name he/she has to be stuck with for the rest of their life. Stick with a regular name.

No. Since it's uncommon, it will be distinctive. Winston is a good name, one of the best Prime Ministers of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, had that name.

It's also the name of a popular brand of cigarette, though, if that bothers you.
