I put on a basecoat, two color coats and then a top coat. What's with the bubbles?

As a make up artist this is the reason.

Bubbles may be caused by insufficient drying time between coats. If polish does not dry thoroughly between coats, solvents can push up through the top coat, forming tiny bubbles. Bubbles may also form when polish is applied too thick. The solvents will not evaporate as quickly as they should and will be trapped under the next coat of polish, forming bubbles as they try to escape. Also, vigorous shaking of the polish bottle creates bubbles in the bottle and are picked up by the brush and then transferred to the nail. Always shake bottle gently or roll between your palms. Any influence which makes polish dry unevenly can also cause bubbling (for example, high humidity, low room temperature or hot sun).

Hope that helps.

Either the nail polish is old and too think and develops air bubbles as you apply the coats or you are not allowing enough time between coats.
You might also want to make sure you arent in any drafts when applying the nail polish.

shaking the bottle causes bubbles roll don't shake and Waite atleast 15 min between coats, don't apply another coat until u can rub ur nails with out moving polish.

You aren't allowing enough time for you coats to dry. Use a thinner layer of base coat and dry completly before adding color.

If you put the next coat on too early, bubbles will appear. Also, make sure your nails have no bumps in them (use a nail smoother).

It might not be mixed good enough. Instead of shaking it roll it between your hands for a minute. And store your nail polish in the fridge.

The only time I've ever gotten bubbles is when the polish was too thick or when I painted them and it was too hot or humid when they were drying.

could poss. be cheap or old polish (you should only keep polish for about a year). Also I hear if while shaking it roll the bottle in your hands instead of up and down that might help.

Don't shake the bottle before using it, roll it between your palms instead. It works a lt better.
