Thanks people :) well I didn't know there is a fuel filter that without gas will build up clog. Good thing I never let my car go down to ¼ of gasoline. I never left my car hungry :)

if you run out of oil-the engine will burn up. if you run out of gas-the cap stops like a dead battery.

It won't burn the engine, but its not all that good for it either.I'll agree with everyone else here except for the fact that these things happen when you run an engine out of fuel.

!- The fuel pump located in the fuel tank on most fuel injected cars now-a-days is actually lubricated and cooled by the fuel in the tank. no fuel -no lubrication or cooling of that pump.

2- same goes for the seals and connections in the fuel system.

3- running out of fuel suddenly stops the engine.
(if your engine were a runner and you stopped suddenly from an uphill run,... how would you feel?Labored, but you'll survive)

all of this is really MINOR, about all it will do is make those parts wear a little more than average. Engines are engineered to be run out of fuel from time to time.

It will just stop. Its best not to run your car out of gas bacause there is dirt in the bottom of the tank that can clog your fuel filter.

It wont run, just refill it. But....... The possibilty of burning out the fuel pump is a possibility. the pump is located in the tank and the gas cools the pump motor. So if you run out of gas or even low on gas you risk burning out the pump and no matter how much gas you put in your tank, it wont start again until you replace the pump.

It wont burn the engine but there is a chance that it will suck the silt from the bottom of the tank and clog your fuel filter and cause problems that way.

Your car simply won't move. At that time, your best bet is to get help or walk to the nearest gas station to have some gas filled up in a so called plastic container.

The car will stop. Engine wont be affected, except it will stop running until more gas gets put in.

If you run out of oil, the engine will burn up.

No. Engines are basically air pumps with fuel added.
When the fuel stops, there is nothing to burn or combust.
