I want to install a basement sink, but the sewer drain line goes out of the basement ceiling through a wall. Does Code allow me to drain a simple sink into my 1 acre, down-sloping backyard? I do not want to install a pump just to be able to install a sink in the basement. All help is appreciated.

First off, don't worry ... I had absolutely no plans to put anything down the sink besides water that had been used to wash my child's hands / his friends hands. No paint thinner, etc. I know, that does not change the answer ... and I think it has been answered ... I do not know the Building Code well enough to answer, and I have seen outdoor showers without drains before, so I thought I would ask.
However, it sounds like a drain into the sewer system is required, which will require installation of a pump. Either that, or send the kid to the spigot just outside the door?
