Mark Buehrle — White Sox

His games are often around 2 hours long; the league average 2 years ago was 2 hours, 47 minutes. No one else's games are over faster than his consistently.

Of course, if you meant who throws the fastest instead of who pitches the fastest; Bobby Jenks, also with the White Sox, was clocked at 102 mph last August at Safeco in Seattle and Joel Zumaya of the Tigers hit 102 just last Sunday.

One reason you cannot really tell how hard MLB pitchers throw is due to the camera angle on television, which shoots them from behind. If you watched the same guy throwing a 95 mph fastball from a side view, you would see a completely different perspective, like how far they actually extend their front leg and stretch with their back leg off the pitching rubber generating tremendous force and how much they actually follow through with their bodies after releasing the ball. Most of the velocity is generated by the lower body and transferred up to the arm by rotating the hips and torso and following through with a healthy, flexible arm (like a whip action).

i don't think there's even a "world record" for the fastest pitch during a game, cuz they can't accurately measure it..

there is really no honest way to tell the fastest during live game situation..

all the radar guns on TV, in the stadium are all completely WRONG... i saw a Yankee game on TV last month that had Randy Johnson hitting 102 to 103mph... YEAH RIGHT. not at his age..

Some parks up the radar gun 3-4mph when the home team's pitcher is on the mound...

Joel Zumya, he threw 102. Billy Wagner occasionally throws 100.

These days, there is not one man that stands out like Nolan Ryan and other people of the past, all though Billy Wagner comes to mind.

Jenks and Billy Wagner consistently hit triple digits on the radar gun. I remember Billy Koch used to throw hard as well back when he was closing for the Blue Jays.
