NO. Too many business NEED gasoline to function.
Just think of Fedex, Ups, truckers. It's just too integrated into
our economy for a normal commuter to effect the price.
Boycotts just don't work. The only thing we can do
is if one station is consistently higher, avoid it.
But I would not drive miles to save 2 cents.
I think only congress has enough power to make the oil companies stop gouging us.

People can lower the gas prices themselves if they are truly dedicated. In order to do so, however, people would have to sacrifice a lot. They would have to use alternate transportation. They could walk, ride their bike, or take a bus. We have always had the oppurtunity to reduce the gas prices but we haven't been organized enough. The entire country would have to participate; if not, at least 75% of the country. The majority of the country hates the gas prices and how high they are, and no one can blame them. They just need to have the motivation to change things. They haven't had the initiate so far. They need true desire, dedication, and they need to know how to sacrifice. If we all stopped driving our cars, the corporations would lose millions of dollars. They would be forced to drive down the prices dramatically; they would have to pay attention to the people, something they are not used to doing. We need to change their ways!

We could. It's a a simple case of supply and demand. If we stop demanding, the gas companies will have no choice but to lower the prices as an incentive to attract people.

But we all know we can't live w/out gas ;)

The "supply and demand" theory is a good one but it won't work!! The problem being that if you decrease demand the big oil companies will not lower the price because they are in it for the profits, therefore less demand=high prices to compensate for lost sales. Think about it.

If there's no demand, the price will drop - so, stop driving. Completely. If a couple million whiners do so maybe it'll drop the price a nickel or so for me. The Oil companies are not gouging us, its the force of the market (and OPEC manipulating the price), they are charging based on what it will cost them to replace it.

Gas prices skyrocket and oil companies report historical record profits. if that aitnt price gouging what is. if prices went up and profits stayed the same then I would understand the increased cost crap the oil companies are talking. truthfully they know that technology is about to put them out of business and they are trying to soak us for enough to retire on while they can.

YES GET OUT AND VOTE FOR SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE GREEDY REPUBLICANS THAT ARE BEHIND THE REDICULOUS INFLATING OF OIL AND GAS PRICES. I GUARANTEE YOU THAT IF CONGRESS CHANGES PRICES WILL BE BACK CLOSE TO 2$ A GALLON BY THE FIRST OF THE YEAR. IF TEH RETHUGS WIN AGAIN GAS WILL BE 4$ A GALLON BY THEN!!!!!!!!!!
