First movie that scared me was Jaws in movie theater in 1975 but my pick for scariest alltime would be original Halloween!

A film called Audition by Takeshi Miike, It leaves you feeling completely devastated and alone.
It plays like a romantic comedy for the first hour almost, then the horror begins........

a lot of old Stephen King is good. things like The Shining, The Langoliers, Misery etc. were all very good films. also check out Salem's Lot(old version) that might help. Pet Semetary(yes spelled like that) was always one of my favorites
