some people are too stupid to read the question before they answer,,, huh goldwing??? 600-700 hours of chill temperature is usaully needed for trees to bear fruit,, that comes out to about 25 days of cool weather! spigs or cuttings are usually chilled too,, i usually put seeds to chill until i need them the next planting season but if your are going to plant them in containers and keep indoors, don't worry about chilling,, when the plants are big enough you can wean them to the outdoors and they will be fine,, and yes,, I HAVE frozen many seeds and they sprouted just fine too...

Is it a sweet cherry usually grown in north or a sour cherry grown in southern and SW states. Try this take a knife and make a few shallow cut in pit. Put in frig, vegetable bin until early spring. Plant your cherry pits twice deep their size. Cover with mulch and wait. You could buy a cherry tree at your local nursery and save a lot of time.

I think it's too late to plant this year, so just plant at the end of summer and they will naturally hibernate as they would normally. Best wishes

I hope that by 'cold storage' you don't mean freezing.
