The check number is the number in the top right corner of your check. The other numbers you mention are the routing number as well as your checking account number, both done in magnetic ink to help in processing. You may also see the numbers in the upper right repeated at the end or the beginning of the long set of numbers. Again, this helps in the quick processing, and is what tells your bank the number of the check you wrote so that you can see it on your statement. Clear as mud?

The number on the top right is the check number. Actually, that number is repeated at the end of the long string of numbers on the bottom for personal checks.

The bottom numbers are the routing numbers, so they know what bank and what account to draw on.

You have a number on the upper right hand corner that should only concern you the account holder as it is used for you to keep track of your checks. The checking account number is the one on the bottom in between the routing number and the check number that coincides with the one on the upper right. The routing number concerns your bank and it's location and the account number.

A void check is just one of your checks for the bank (the bank you would like your paycheck to be deposited to) with the word VOID written on it. You should write VOID big to prevent any other use of the check. For a savings account, you can maybe use a deposit slip from your bank.
