Merle Norman. She started her business during the depression and believed in giving free samples. In fact, one of her first products, called the "miracol mask" she made up right in her on kitchen in a coffee pot! She is not around anymore, but her products are. You can still get free makeovers and samples, too. A great place to do this is at the Town and Country shopping plaza in the Merle Norman by William Glenn in the back. If you visit, make sure you tell the owner, SYNDEE, that Rene' Bennett sent you and you'll get the ROYAL treatment!

Elizabeth Arden is one of the oldest cosmetic companies, older than those mentioned; it's been around for almost 100 years now.
