well I think it is a cruel thing to do to a innocent living thing. It is living since the first day of conception. I am totally against it.

I think abortions should be illegal unless you become pregnant as a result of rape or incest;also, if you have a health problem in which you could die from carrying a child. I don't agree with abortion as a form of birth control. Birth control and condoms were invented for a reason. Abortion is murder. It's as simple as that. I was in a situation where I had gotten pregnant when I was 17. I thought I couldnt get pregnant because I was on the patch. Well, low and behold I came pregnant. I couldnt see myself murdering my own child, even though my boyfriend at the time (fiance now) wanted me to get an abortion. My little girl is now 2 and I never regret having her and keeping her. Life may be a little harder for us because we weren't ready, but we made the choice to have sex. I feel that women who get abortions try to take the easy way out. They are selfish for thinking of themselves before their child. I get frustrated when people say women should have a right to choose. They DO have a right. They have a right to abstain from sex and they have a right to use birth control. I know that birth control has flaws, I have 2 children now where I got pregnant on birth control. Another thing, why doesnt the unborn child have rights? Women go to prison for delivering their children and throwing them away; why shouldnt women who have abortions suffer from the same consequences? for all the women that have had abortions, I wish there was a way to go back in time so their mothers would have aborted them. I know a lot of people that whine and cry because they can't have children now due to them getting an abortion. You get what you deserve. I just want these women to realize that even though their baby is in their womb, they're alive. A baby's heartbeat can be heard from 4-6 weeks. How can you say that they aren't living things? Everyone deserves a chance at life

I'm Catholic and I can easily give you a lot of techical information about the Church's teaching on abortion. But I will give you a personal answer instead. I'll go through some of the personal reasons why I'm against abortion.
First, abortion is one of the worst violations of a woman's body. It is a violation of the most significant ability that woman have that men do not have, the ability to bear children. Bearing children is a unique and precious gift and it is wrong to subject that gift to a notion of personal choice when only women can exercise that ability. A man who wants to produce children cannot have them on his own; he must find a woman who is willing to bear the child for him. I also don't understand how any woman can be comfortable with the idea of having another person rip things out of the most intimate part of her body.
Second, it's an affront on all civil rights. The right to life is the most basic civil right. If one cannot live, one cannot exercise any other rights (including the "right" to have an abortion).
Third, it doesn't solve or cure anything. The woman who has been raped and becomes pregnant cannot be unraped by aborting her child. In fact, she will have the double burden of having been raped and having killed her own child. You cannot heal the damage of violence by causing more damage. At least by having the child she can experience a love that can heal the pain of the rape. Also, nowhere else do we kill children for the crimes of their parents.
Finally, abortion is usually justified by suggesting that the unborn child is not a person and not worthy of legal recognition. The same logic was used to justify slavery and the Holocaust. More importantly, if we allow the law to recognize any human being as not being a person, that could be applied to newborn babies, to the elderly and to the mentally handicapped. Any person would be at risk, at some point in his life, of being put to death on the personal choice of another.
Notice I have not invoked religious teaching in any of this. In a nutshell, it boils down to recognizing that the unborn child is a human being worthy of the same rights and protections as a child who has been born.

as long as the girl was raped by some guy or was forced into having sex i have nothing against it because i mean it wasnt the girls fault in the first place that it happened. the only time im againt abortion is if the girl willingly has sex and says she doenst want anything to do with raising a child because she new the possibilitys of what could happen if she had sex.p.s. there are other alternatives besides abortion instead when the girl has the baby give it up to a shelter because i think its very mest up to end somebody elses life just to satisfy there own especially something like a baby whitch is totally vulnerable and defensless and cant tell you what its feeling. pps just voicing out my oppinion nothing more.

I think there are times when it should be done. I am stronly against it for a means of birth control. Especially when protection is so available. I also think that if men would be more concerned about protection it could make a difference. It is generally a woman's responsibility. And it should not be that way.
I get annoyed when men spout off about the wrongness of abortion. Men have no clue what it is like to carry an unwanted baby. So if men don't like abortion, they should either use protection, or keep their pp in their shorts.

I think abortions should be legalized for women who have health issues and/or the fetus is imminent danger. With so very many forms for birth control available (and some are free) there is absolutely no excuse for unwanted pregnancies. If someone is careless enough to become pregnant and does not want the baby, there are thousands of people who would adopt or accept the precious gift of a baby.

I think too many women are abusing the right to have a abortion. I believe that unless you are at risk of dying, is pregnant because of rape, than you should not be allowed to have a abortion. I see woman who got pregnant than they have a abortion because they dont know who the father is, they dont have enought money, etc. There is a such thing known as abortion. I also see teen girls getting pregnant than having a abortion because they arent ready to have a baby, they dont know who the dad is, etc, etc. The way I see it, if you willingly opened your legs up and got pregnant you should be able to accept the consequences. Im a teen girl and Im not having sex until Im ready and able to take care of a baby. I feel no remorse to a female who has had a abortion other than the reasons of rape, or risk of dying.

Think about the following. A woman that is pregnant who already has eight children, three are deaf, two are blind, one is mentally retarded, and she has syphilis. Should this woman have an abortion? If Ludwig van Beethoven's, one of the greatest music composers of all time, mother had an abortion because of these odds, we would never had been blessed with the genius of the immortal Beethoven.

I think it is wrong. Everyone deserves a chance at life and if the person doesn't want the child just give it up for adoption. Many people dream of having children and can't. If they give it up for adoption eveybody wins.......the mom b/c she doesn't have to keep the baby, the baby b/c it has a chance at life, and the adoptive parents b/c now they have what they want.
