I do like a lot of modern bands but I can't consider any their songs to be "all time favorites" just yet. For me a song has to age a few years. If you asked about current favorites, I'd include Nickelback, Green Day, Maroon 5, etc. but chances are they won't make it long term. So, about to be stranded on an island with no hope of rescue, these are the songs I would take (in no particular order)...

Moody Blues: Story in your Eyes
Yes: Starship Troopers
Rush: Limelight
Rush: Subdivisions
Edgar Winter Group: Frankenstein
Joe Satriani: Surfing with the Alien (the whole album, I can't listen to just one track)
Pink Floyd: Not Now John
Genesis: part 5 from Supper's Ready (Apocalypse in 9/8)
Jethro Tull: Thick as a Brick (all 44 minutes, not the radio edit)
Billy Thorpe: Children of the Sun
Jigsaw: Sky High
Talk Talk: Hate
Fleetwood Mac: Landslide
