...it's not showing up on any of them. I looked through page after page of results, but mine was not there. I didn't look at all of them, but I went pretty far. The name of my website is Care 4 Cats!, and that is exactly what I typed in. I don't get it. How do you make your website show up, without paying a load of money?

it can take 2 weeks to six months for free site submissions to show up in search engines. even then you have to make certain they stay in there.
don't even bother submitting a site about yourself with your pic an three of your favorite links. no search engine accepts them anymore. there are just too may of them.
make your site about a particular subject. then you can add your personal info to it.
in google the only way to get a high ranking is if lots of others link to your site. not even money will help you
almost all search engines use http://dmoz.org/ to supplement their own directories. submit your site there. not all sites are accepted. if they deny you ask them how to improve it so they will accept it.
if you have a business site don't be a cheapskate. get a paid site promoter to do that for you. they know all the tricks of the trade that no individual knows.

I found your page by searching for "Care 4 Cats" on Google. That means it is in Google's database. The likeleyhood of it showing up when someone searches for something more generic like "cat sitting" depends on the other keywords people search for and how often they appear on your site. In order to guarantee that your site appears on top of generic search results, paid web advertising may be your best option.

Got friends with web sites get links to each other. Make sure the words that people will type in the search block looking for what you have are on your web site.

I think you have to subnit your site to these search engines.
Even after that, it takes a long while for your website to show up.
What you need to do is to improve your SEO.

Didn't you get a link when you were done with the page that would have been sent to your email.. that will take you there then bookmark it. Considering the BILLIONS of web sites out there and you are looking for just one... thats ALOT ... might be hard for your browser to say, Oh, I know where she wants to go...

first of all it doesn't happen instantaneously. might have to give it a few weeks to get going. I noticed my site shows up in google, but not yahoo.
make sure to use META TAGS in your code.... do a search for it and you'll find plenty of extra info.
