I don't think it should be made - it's just too complex.
But I would pick Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings and King Kong).

Nobody - it should never be made. It was the best series I've ever read and I know no one could possibly make a movie of it that is anywhere near the excellence of the book. Most movies that come from books completely suck, and even if it was decent it would ruin the pictures that we each have in our heads of how the characters look and act. I honestly didn't even like most of the drawings that were in some of the books because they did that.

As above, I think it is too complex and finding an actor to play Roland would be impossible.
I also agree that Peter Jackson would have to direct it.

I agree that it should never be made. NOBODY could play Roland deschain, barring Clint Eastwood, and he's too old now. But if they did make it... Peter jackson or sam Raimi.
