Most of the time people do not scroll down to see how many or what other people have answered. Also, if you ask a question that needs a factual answer and all of the answers are different, how would you know which one is correct? So the more people who give the same answer, the more chances are that is the correct one.

There are a few reasons.
a) They want the points (like a lot of people did & said before me)
b) They werre just later than everyone else (like me)
c) they just took a long time to answer and were debating what else to say before the person before them.

the pace in here is so fast that many people are answering the same question at the same time. so you can't rule out that they are doing it for the points.

If we didn't, then you might only get one single person's opinion, and that goes against the whole point of this...we're trying to get the majority vote, most of the time, anyways. OH, and points...heh.

It is a flaw in the system. People get two points no matter what they type.
