I'm curious, do female gymnasts wear anything to protect "themselves" when performing their routines, especially on the balance beam?

no....its just us and a 4 inch piece of wood!! haha. although some people wear wrist guards, or other braces to protect themselves from further injury

nope.. all we wear is a leotard i eman soem girls wear beam shoes and it makes it a little easier to be on the beam but besides that no padding...lol
