People have always lived in slums and probably always will. I never notice noise and pollution, I notice animals and sewage smells a whole lot more when in the country!

I have installed double glazing and have grown trees around my garden. I live near a dual carriageway with lots of traffic and can hear it loudly in my garden but NOT in the house so I get away from the noise once I enter my own dwelling.

I know what you mean! I was just in a Washinton DC and I live in the country, I thought I was going to die. eople never slow down , they always have somewhere to go. It is ever quiet, you can never see stars, everything towers over you, the disgusting smells from the sewers, it is just vile. I hate the city.

But its got its plus side for me - I don't have to travel far to work, I can choose between about six pubs within walking distance, easy access to 24 hour supermarkets if I need them, easy access to entertainment such as cinema, theatres etc,and I can always visit the countryside if I want to.

I couldn't agree with you more! The city is so dirty, so ugly(treeless), fast, hostile, competitive... I constantly wish I was somewhere else. I have even thought the possibility of moving in the country.

Sometimes it does.
But I always escape to the Himalayan mountains where I take the time off to relax and get to know myself better.
