It really depends on the compression quality of the songs that you have on your player. I have Creative Zen MicroPhoto (8GB) and transfer subscription songs to it from Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go. These songs are recorded at a high quality 192kbps. The average song takes about 5.5MB per song.

Even though the player has 8GB, only about 7.4GB is free, the rest is taken up by system overhead.

At this quality, I can get about 1345 songs on my 8GB Zen Microphoto using these estimates. In actuality, I just finished updating the player while I was typing. I now I have 1398 songs on the Microphoto with 85MB free. So I could get over 1400 songs on the player. The estimates are pretty close.

If I ripped my own CDs and used lower quality bitrate encodings such as 164kbps, 128kbps, 96kbps, or 64kbps, I could get more songs but they wouldn't necessarily sound so go.

Estimating for your player 6GB, 5.4GB usable after system overhead, you can maybe fit the following number of songs at these different quality encoding bitrates:

192kbps quality ~1000 songs Near CD quality
164kbps quality ~1170 songs Low CD quality
128kbps quality ~1500 songs Hi FM radio quality
96kbps quality ~2000 songs Low FM radio quality
64kbps quality ~2875 songs AM radio quality

Of course, if you listen to classical, far fewer songs will fit.

Your mileage may vary. These are only rough estimates.

Hmmm, a 4gb Creative Zen Microphoto holds 2100 songs, so maybe 4000

one song can be in the 1-10 mb range. 1 gig holds 1000 mb. Do the math from there. I'd say about average of 600-800

taking on an average that each song is around 4 mins and recorded at 128mbps, ur 6gb mp3 player should hold around1400 songs.

Anywhere from 2 to 4 thousand songs. It really depends, because songs can be a mb and a half, and sometimes they can be about 6 mb.

Depends on the quality of the songs and therefore their storage size.
