You know what you could and I don't think you have to spend no money to do it, but, you could go down to the city hall in that town, and look up the deed to the home and find out how many families has lived in the house and find out some history on the house, may be it was a site back in the day or something.
Another good source of information like that is the oldest person who still lives in the town may know some things that you will not find in deeds or even old paper articles.

LaSalle man jumps to his death, police say
LASALLE - A 23-year-old LaSalle man died Thursday after jumping from a seventh-story window of a high-rise, police said.
Justin Dixon, of 1040 2nd St. No. 702, jumped from the Robert Hughett Towers and landed on the sidewalk, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:07 p.m.
No one else was injured in the incident, police said.
Police and the LaSalle County Coroner's Office are investigating the death.
