since this isn't properly defined

if the 'x' is multiply then
(-8)*(-8) + (-(-8)) = 72

if the 'x' is a variable then
(-8)x - 8 + (-(-8)) = -8x

assuming ? = 0 then x= 0 because (-(-8))= 8 so the actually equation is (-8x-8)+8=0
then -8x-8=-8
then -8x=0
then x=0/-8 or =0

or if ? is another variable such as y

then (-8x-8)+8=y
then -8x-8=y-8
then -8x=y is your answering if solving for y or x=y/-8 if solving for x.

i guess my point is the equation is not complete because ? is not a variable or a value but if it was those are your answers.

i am assuming that the x means multiply not being used as a varible.
(-8x-8)+8 (two negatives equal a positive)=
