pregnancy is the carrying of one or more embryos or fetuses by female mammals, including humans, inside their bodies. In a pregnancy, there can be multiple gestations (for example, in the case of twins, or triplets- wikipedia
when you become pregnant, lots of things happen to change your body. things shift, things stretch, some things break....what happens to your body, for example, to your bellybutton, all depends on your specific body. a lot of times the bellybutton will stick out a little. your stomach will get bigger, as well as your feet, hands, face, butt, legs, everything. thats is your body's way of preserving every bit of nutrition and fluid for your baby. when your hands and feet get bigger, its generally swelling rom water retention. my feet went up a shoe size and a half, but went back to normal after delivery. lots of things affect the way your body changes like the food you eat or the hormone levels, or the way you carry the baby. if you eat a lot of junk and unhealthy food, you can gain extra weight that will be harder to lose after delivery, but during pregnancy it's not fair to call any woman fat.

Whomever asked this question must be a major dimwit..Yes, women gain weight when they are pregnant, some more than others. And yes, some women do end up with the "microphone" belly button, as my 4 year old calls mine. This too shall pass.
Grow up, and also, if you have the time to ask questions on yahoo answers, then you obviously have internet access, google it when all else fails, if you are really that intrigued...

*sigh* Yet another ignorant, simple minded person asking yet another stupid question.
And for the record, I'm SO sick of ppl looking at pregnant women or calling pregnant women FAT. WTF is wrong w/you ppl? They aren't fat, they're creating human life. I mean, come on, where else is the baby supposed to go? Christ...
**UPDATE: This is the email I recieved from Cat Luva along w/my reply:
"From: Cat Luva
Subject: this is bull ****
Message: you ain't no wild rose. you are a dead and wilting rose in a small pot with no water or food. Oh, and i need to do a school report on what is pregnancy for your info, you ******* ignarant shithead!"
My reply: First of all, your reply to my answer tells me right off the bat what your intelligence level is. It's obvious that YOU are the one who is ignorant, since you can't even spell the word correctly & you start off telling me, “you ain’t no” tells me that you lack the capacity to use proper grammar. If you’re going to tell someone off, at least have half the intelligence that they do & do it right the first time :)
Second, you should have specified IN YOUR QUESTION that you were doing a report for school & looking for information. Intelligent questions get intelligent answers.
I apologize for misinterpreting your question, however, due to the fact that it was so vague & sounded so non-intelligible, it lead me to believe that it was yet another "shock value" question that we run across so frequently here on Yahoo Answers.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck w/your assignment & I hope you get an A :) ** END OF EMAIL **
So, anyone else get an inspiring, nobel worthy reply from her, as well? LMAO!
**UPDATE 6/18: I actually received an apology! Cudo's to you, Cat Luva, you've totally redeemed yourself, hon. Best of luck!

Are you serious? Pregnancy means you are carrying a child inside you. The belly-button thing depends on the woman...it's different for all. Yes you get BIG, not FAT. There's a human being growing inside of you so of course your stomach is going to grow with it.

HAHA! I have actually lost weight being pregnant, but i'm only in the first tri-mester! I think all pregnant women are beautiful! Your belly button does stick out, but some women put a bandaid on their button so it doesn't look funny or rub on clothes!
And you typically gain between 25-35 lbs! (Thats the normal range!)

Well yes, I'm huge right now (and I'm only starting my 4th month.) My belly button will bulge out towards the end of the eighth month.
