without winning the lottery or robbing a bank, anyone know any online business's what really work?

Yes, I know of one that really works, and very well too... provided you're prepared to work at it. However, I cannot guarantee that you will get rich, or get rich quick, because as with any legitimate business like this, it takes time and effort to reach that point, but you can be earning a very lucrative income within a year, provided you are diligent and motivated, determined to succeed, and work at it, as with any job.

Any online affiliate opportunity that promises you will "get rich quick" and without any effort required, is simply a scam - to be avoided at all costs. However, if you have at least couple of hours a day (more is better) to devote to doing some serious online promotion, for a very legitimate top-listed Inc500 US company, offering an excellent and very in-demand product and service at an incredibly low price, with no selling involved, and using the fully automated tools this company provides for its affiliates, then let me know. Kerry, you asked the question of all questions. My question to you is - what is your cut-off point between rich and not rich? And the other half of the question is how little is the time you consider to be "quick"?
If your desired riches are spiritual then that's a question only you can answer. But if it's in that worthless green stuff they sometimes call money, then your shortcuts to it are more than a dozen. Your conscience is your only hurdle.
For a person with no musical or athletic talent (am I wrong?) I'd say the easiest is going into the foreclosure business - buy directly from the poor soul that is about to lose a home. Sell the property immediately to the bank for twice what you paid for it, in cash. Hey you're only trying to get rich now - not to become Bill Gates... The banks actually love people that do that, especially for repo homes. Take only in moderation and you'll get the business coming your way.
If you're a minority you could look into starting a TV or radio station. Go to the established networks for some cash - no papers. Set-up the station and sell it immediately to the financing network - you'll make a quick million that way. If you not a minority, then find one and work together.
You could also make a wad of money buying on behalf of undesirable people or entities in exclusive markets.
There's money, lots of it, in the personal courier business. You carry business documents - contracts etc. from the US to Asia/Europe/the Middle East... it's quicker for the ones sending them with you and safer than through the commercial couriers.
Better still, get yourself a bunch of college kids to carry the documents for you - you start a business.
You can make a mint arranging for Asian students to attend American college summer school programs, especially if you cater to groups of more than twenty at a time. The colleges clamor for these top dollar paying education tourists.
Kerry you can be filithy rich in less than two years - quicker than that and you're asking for trouble. Good luck and see you at the country club.

The business wave currently exploding is network marketing. It is the only business in the world, where the people who have gotten you into their business have a vested interest inseeing you succeed. Therefor they will train you and support you like no other business would.

Look for a company that has an excellent training system, and secondly a wide variety of excellent products. Watch out for people who says it is quick, easy or automatic. It is none of that. While it is simple to do, it is difficult, because you have to overcome lots of negativity in the process - both from yourself and the people around you.

being "rich" is a relative concept.

Therefore the easiest way to "get rich quick" is actually to work for a short time in a country with a high cost of living. You save as much money as possible then travel (as cheaply as possible) to another country with a lower cost of living and live off your savings for a few weeks/months/years. Then you go back to the first country and earn some more.

You might want to think about pensions and stuff too I suppose.
